Sometimes people – as well as such supernatural beings as zombies and ghosts – must take drastic measures to maintain their humanity in life-threatening and death-defying situations. New Zealand actress Rose McIver is no stranger to working on bringing justice to the victims of crimes and unjust circumstances throughout her career, especially on her television shows. The performer has garnered attention for her leading roles on such genre-defining American shows as ‘iZombie’ and ‘Ghosts.’

McIver portrayed Olivia “Liv” Moore on the supernatural comedy-drama series ‘iZombie.’ The show premiered on The CW on March 17, 2015, and ran for five seasons, ending on August 1, 2019. The procedural crime drama is a loose adaptation of the comic book series of the same name that was published by DC Comics under its Vertigo imprint.

‘iZombie’s television adaptation follows the adventures of Liv, a Seattle Police medical examiner-turned-zombie. After her transformation, she maintains her humanity – and helps solve murders – by eating the brains of the victims who are brought into the morgue where she works. She can offer assistance to the police as she temporarily absorbing the victims’ memories and personalities after eating their brain.

‘Ghosts’ is the American television adaptation of the British show of the same name. The series, which airs on CBS, premiered on October 7, 2021. The network’s no. 1 comedy, whose second season concluded last month, has already been renewed for a third season.

On ‘Ghosts,’ for which she was nominated for a Best Actress in a Network or Cable Television Series Saturn Award last year, McIver plays married New Yorker Samantha Arondekar. Sam and her husband, Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar), believe that their dreams have come true when they inherit a beautiful country house from her great aunt, Sophie Woodstone. But the couple soon discover that it’s falling apart. More importantly, however, it’s inhabited by ghosts who died on the property. They’re now bound to the area, appearing as they did at the times of their deaths, until they can reach the afterlife. Jay can’t see or hear the ghosts, but Sam can after she personally had a near-death experience.

McIver generously took the time earlier this month to participate in a panel at the Pennsylvania Convention Center during FAN EXPO Philadelphia 2023. During the Q&A, the actress talked about her experiences shooting ‘iZombie’ and ‘Ghosts.’ Listen to the full Q&A above.
