There are fears all people must face, especially in strange new worlds. In times of trauma, they learn to face their terrors by connecting with others who are also struggling to find their strength in overcoming adversity. That’s certainly the case with the two female protagonists in the upcoming fantasy drama, ‘Mermaids’ Lament.’
The feature, which teaches about resilience through trauma and imagination, is set to have its L.A. premiere during Dances With Films this Sunday, June 25 at 9:30pm at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood. In honor of the project’s L.A. premiere during Dances With Films, Film Factual is offering one lucky winner a pass (that admits one) to the screening.
To enter the giveaway, follow us on Facebook or Twitter (also find us using @FilmFactualSite on both websites). DM us on either account and let us know that you’re entering to win the ‘Mermaids’ Lament’ Dances With Films premiere screening giveaway in the message. You have until this Saturday, June 24, the day before the movie’s L.A. premiere screening during Dances With Films, to enter, and you can DM us once daily on each account. On June 24, we’ll pick the winner at random, and notify them through DM. Good luck!
The story of two women who find strength in each other despite their personal struggles, ‘Mermaids’ Lament’ follows two women: Oee (Dayva Summer Escobar) a traumatized woman who has lost her voice and may or may not be a mermaid. Her therapist, Dr. Nell Jamison (Justina Mattos), who battles with anxiety herself, attempts to help Oee overcome her delusions and connect with reality. As they bond over their experiences, they learn to be resilient like the ocean and embrace the power of imagination to navigate the chaos of the world.
The movie’s director, GB Hajim has been supporting the Hawaiian Renaissance through his multimedia work for over 25 years. He has produced over 150 Hawaiian language dramas, animations, documentaries, podcasts and educational programs.
‘Mermaids’ Lament’ is Hajim’s second feature film, following the self-produced 2013 2D animated sci-fi lesbian musical, ‘Strange Frame.’ He’s excited to bring his passion for storytelling and his love for the ocean in his upcoming movie.
