Infusing internationally relatable emotions and rites of passage into a genre that’s largely known for its hardcore antics isn’t always an easy feat. But acclaimed Russian rock band, Apache Rose has done just that with the recent release of its latest single, ‘Cabin Fever,’ which will potentially appear on its forthcoming sophomore album.

The group, which is originally from Moscow but recently relocated to Tbilisi, the capital city of the country of Georgia, because of the current war, is once again led by founder and principal singer-songwriter, Ilya Novokhatskiy. The musician, who is planning the track list for the group’s upcoming record, blended their signature sound, which is inspired by the 90’s grunge and alternative movements, with their own original, electric energy on ‘Cabin Fever.’

Like the band’s 2021 debut LP, ‘Attention!,’ its new single expands on the musicians’ core hard rock influences from the 1970-’90’s, including Metallica, Sex Pistols, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots. The new tune also thrives by infusing punk, metal and pop overtones in equal measure throughout its lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. As a result, Novokhatskiy is able to croon about such universally understandable issues as contending with heartbreak and why life has wronged him during ‘Cabin Fever.’

The song is driven by its assertive, energetic drum beats and guitar riffs, which support its relatable theme of dark thoughts making people ponder what is right and wrong in a world of subjective pleasure. The singer also powerfully croons about feeling a sense of closeness to someone who also shares his thoughts over the struggle to survive in a challenging world and being repressed by their circumstances. While they feel that fighting back against societal expectations can be challenging at times, they still bond over their plan to push back against those societal views.

Novokhatskiy and his fellow musicians in Apache Rose prove that they can effortlessly create their own blend of rock and alternative instrumentation and vocals that represent the need to fight back against societal oppression. Like its influences form the 1970-’90’s rock, grunge and alternative scene, the up-and-coming group has crafted an engaging single in, and accompanying video for, ‘Cabin Fever’ that thrives on its energetic drum beats, guitar riffs and vocals. The track is a powerful declaration that the band refuse to allow society command the way they lead their lives, and is the perfect anthem for the current political landscape in not only their home country, but also around the world.
