Actor Nathan Faudree has woken up from a catatonic state to witness the personification of the apocalypse that he unleashed into the world during his last expedition a decade ago. In his anticipated horror movie, ‘Site 13,’ the performer’s character, Nathan Marsh, must find the weak spot in reality that he caused to prevent something bad from happening as a result of that personification of evil.
Terror Films is set to unleashed the feature on July 28 on digital platforms. In honor of the drama’s release, the distributor has unveiled the feature’s official trailer.
The Lovecraftian horror movie is a found footage feature in the vein of ‘The Blair Witch Project.’ It includes footage taken over 17 years that fuses together a story that’s set over the course of those years.
The present-day portion of the drama was shot over the course of a week in the Syracuse, New York area with a group of regional theater talent. The crew from WatchWorks Studios, led by Chris Steinberger and Megan Piechowicz, also worked on the movie.
For post-production, indie horror star Alan Rowe Kelly was brought on as a producer and editor, which gave the film a whole new scope with his storytelling skills. A couple additional days of photography and three more years of crafting two movies into one has led to a unique storytelling experience, where two films became an entirely new story.
In addition to starring in ‘Site 13,’ Faudree also wrote and directed the feature. Katie Gibson and Leila Dean also star in the drama.
While discussing the movie, Faudree said: “Filmed over the course of 17 years, ‘Site 13’ is a Lovecraftian Cosmic Horror film that truly proves evil never dies. Begun as a found footage film in 2003 under the direction of Tony Urban, the mostly improvised movie was filmed and then due to Urban’s retirement, shelved.
“Flash forward 13 years and I was still haunted by the work that everyone had done for the film. I contacted Tony with an interesting idea. Let me write and film a present-day portion of the movie and use the old footage as a kind of flashback material. He quickly agreed, happy to give the film a new life. I set about crafting a script that incorporated the footage into a present-day story,” Faudree added.
In ‘Site 13,’ when Dr. Nathan Marsh wakes up in a mental institution from a 10-year catatonic state, he has to watch the tapes from his last expedition to learn what eldritch horrors he has unleashed on the world. Using the footage from the two time periods, the resulting final movie explores myth, legacy and madness that has been brewing for over the course of more than a decade.
