Todd Kowaluk’s Enough is Enough Single Review

Artist: Todd Kowaluk

Single: ‘Enough is Enough;’ Released: July 18, 2023; Producer: Dave King

Humanity often misses out on the true beauty in life by continuously putting limits and timelines on itself, both in their professional and personal commitments. Vancouver-based singer-songwriter-guitarist, Todd Kowaluk is highlighting that often-times distressing situation on his newly released pop-rock single, ‘Enough is Enough,’ which is now streaming on digital platforms.

The acoustic folk track explores one of life’s most thought-provoking, challenging moral inquiries: when is work on projects good enough, especially for artists who are dedicated to perfecting their craft? Kowaluk was so dedicated to perfecting his latest tune that he refused to put a time limit on when he would release it, which allowed his talents as a singer, songwriter and instrumentalist really shine.

‘Enough Is Enough’ starts with that fatalistic phrase as Kowaluk calls for people to be honest with not only their hearts and each other, but also the concept that they can pursue their dreams for as long as they need. He passionately notes that infinite love will set humanity free, so people shouldn’t constantly test it with boundaries.

The artist also admits on his latest musical effort that much like love, he also doesn’t know where he’s going with the song, and that it’s a question I’ve been asking all along. By now finding his courage to voice his pondering of where life will lead him, particularly in feeling secure in finally releasing his work, he emphasizes a relatability in his lyrics on when he realizes that anything is possible.

Backed by stellar folk rock guitar riffs and driven by ‘90s pop-rock style vocals that are reminiscent of those of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ lead singer, Anthony Kiedis, ‘Enough Is Enough’ constantly proves its untraditional nature. It starts with a chorus, and its overall lyrics questions the rules. The single also asks what’s the most important thing about being human in the ever-changing world.

Kowaluk has successfully been working on his unique brand of indie folk lyrics and instrumentals for many years by infusing ‘90s-influenced indie rock and pop with a higher message. The singer-songwriter has been exploring the vital message of how journeys can find a brighter ending, offer new beginnings and help people become better versions of themselves since the release his 2018 EP, ‘Love Can Set Us Free.’

With his new single ‘Enough Is Enough,’ which features catchy, Paul Westerberg-esque indie pop guitar riffs that he has had in mind since ‘Love Can Set Us Free’s distribution, Kowaluk garnered the fortitude to finally realize how to put the perfect finishing touches on his music. In the process, he became a better songwriter and overall musician. He not only ponders the question of what’s important about being human in the ever-changing world, but also figures out when the best time to release his message and work into the world.
