My Friend Tommy Exclusive Clip Chronicles the Titular Subject Learn to Cook Eggs For the First Time

Challenging themselves to step out of their comfort zone to rediscover the adulthood they never had is one of the most life-affirming journeys people can have as they search for their unique identities. That’s certainly the case for Tommy Lee, the titular subject of the new coming-of-age comedic documentary, ‘My Friend Tommy.’

Freestyle Digital Media is distributing the movie today, October 24 on all digital HD internet, cable and satellite platforms in the U.S., as well as on DVD. In honor of the project’s release, Film Factual is premiering an exclusive clip from the feature, which chronicles Lee’s epic, life-changing adventure, which includes learning how to cook eggs for the first time as an adult.

Besides Lee, ‘My Friend Tommy’ also features his best friend, Nem Stankovic, who wrote, directed and produced the project. The duo is joined on screen by Grammy Award-winner Boi1da, Lisa Ann, YouTube star Azzyland, NBA star Dwight Powell, Akil Augustine, Malik Jardine, Uros Komadinic and Andrija Mrsa.

‘My Friend Tommy’ chronicles how Lee is a sheltered, real-life 40-year-old virgin who still lives with his Christian Korean parents under a curfew. Lee has never been on a date, kissed a girl or cooked, nor does he own a personal bank account. As a result, he has been left without any adult skills.

After years of Lee pleading Stankovic, his unlikely best friend, to “help him with the ladies,” the filmmaker and his friends agree to take Lee on an epic, cross-continental quest that pushes him out of his comfort zone. As a result, he rediscovers the adulthood he never had, from cooking to laundry, dating and even exploring sexuality. As they travel, ideologies clash and past traumas are revealed as the trip becomes a crash course in attaining the teens, 20s, and 30s that Lee missed out on.

While discussing the movie, Stankovic said: “There are hundreds of millions of adult virgins in the world, and this is a story about one of them. ‘My Friend Tommy’ is an absurdly funny and heartwarming road trip adventure film about friendship, self-discovery, healthy masculinity, and social commentary surrounding the stigma of adult virginity.

“This is a film for the masses about getting out of your comfort zone to grow as a person, all the while featuring a Seth Rogen-esque sense of humor, an original hip hop soundtrack and celebrity cameos. I made this film to help my best friend and to destigmatize the conversation of adult virginity, as it is extremely common yet still taboo,” the filmmaker added.
