Even life’s most mundane tasks can amplify a grieving person’s sorrow and despair over the loss of a person they love. That’s certainly true for Wynne, the protagonist of the new tech-riven horror film, ‘Cellphone.’ As the survivor of a car accident that led to the death of her fiancé, Liam, she’s still tormented by his loss, even while she’s just making coffee.
The thriller is now playing on digital platforms, including Prime Video, courtesy of Gravitas Ventures. In honor of the feature’s release, Film Factual is premiering an exclusive clip from the project, which is titled ‘Coffee.’ In the clip, while Wynne is preparing her drink, she has a vision of Liam, which provides her with comfort. But that relief is quickly taken from her when the vision abruptly ends. Losing her fiancé once again ends up amplifies her pain even more.
‘Cellphone’ was written by Rachel Sommer, who also served a producer on the feature with her parents, Matt Sommer and Jan Sommer. Rachel’s brother, Luke Sommer, made his feature film directorial debut on the project, which is based on his 2012 short film, ‘Cell Phone.’
Whitney Rose Pynn plays Wynne, and her real-life fiancé, Jared Noble, who she met while shooting the drama, plays Liam. The movie also stars horror icon Malcolm McDowell, as well as Justin Malik Jackson, Isaac Versaw and Katherine Barber.
In ‘Cellphone,’ Wynne, who is still grieving Liam’s death, starts seeing disturbing images on her cell phone about her future. If she doesn’t figure them out in time, she will die.
