Celebrate Spring 2024 with Film Factual’s Movie Preview

Many studios understandably wait to distribute many of their high-profile blockbusters during the busy spring season, in hopes of drawing attention from movie fans who want to relax in theaters with high buzzworthy fare. With many audiences now feeling comfortable returning to theaters following the closure of auditoriums due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the film industry is now embracing the resocialization of watching features in a community setting.

The upcoming months promise to be the latest season set to release gripping, entertaining and memorable movies with the theatrical and digital releases of some of spring 2024’s most anticipated titles

The spring 2024 film season is beginning as Variance Films and Warner Brothers will distribute the sci-fi thriller, ‘Breathe,’ in theaters and On Digital this Friday, April 26. The movie was written by Doug Simon and directed by Stefon Bristol. The drama stars Jennifer Hudson, Milla Jovovich, Quvenzhané Wallis, Raúl Castillo with Common and Sam Worthington.

When a mysterious couple arrives claiming to know Darius and his fate, Maya tentatively agrees to let them into their bunker but these visitors are not who they claim to be ensuing in mother and daughter fighting for survival.

The season’s next exciting release is scribe-helmers Joel Smallbone and Richard L. Ramsey’s drama, ‘Unsung Hero.’ Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company are set to distribute the movie exclusively in theaters this Friday, April 26, as well. The film stars Daisy Betts, Smallbone, Kirrilee Berger, Jonathan Jackson, Lucas Black, Candace Cameron Bure and Terry O’Quinn.

Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company have unveiled the following synopsis for ‘Unsung Hero’:

Based on a remarkable true story, ‘Unsung Hero’ follows David Smallbone (Smallbone) as he moves his family from Down Under to the States, searching for a brighter future after his successful music company collapses. With nothing more than their seven children, suitcases and their love of music, David and his pregnant wife Helen (Betts) set out to rebuild their lives.

Helen’s faith stands against all odds and inspires her husband and children to hold onto theirs. With their own dreams on hold, David and Helen begin to realize the musical prowess in their children, who would go on to become two of the most successful acts in Inspirational Music history: five-time Grammy Award-winning artists for King + Country and Rebecca St. James.

Another intriguing feature that’s garnering attention is the Western crime thriller, ‘The Last Stop In Yuma County,’ which is set to be distributed in theaters and On Digital on Friday, May 10 by Well Go USA. The movie was written and directed by Francis Galluppi.

The drama stars Jim Cummings, Jocelin Donahue, Sierra McCormick, Nicholas Logan, Michael Abbott Jr., Connor Paolo, Alexandra Essoe, Robin Bartlett, Jon Proudstar, Sam Huntington, Ryan Masson and Barbara Crampton. The film also stars Gene Jones, Faizon Love and Richard Brake.

In ‘The Last Stop In Yuma County,’ while awaiting the next fuel truck at a middle-of-nowhere Arizona rest stop, a traveling young knife salesman is thrust into a high-stakes hostage situation by the arrival of two similarly stranded bank robbers. The duo has no qualms about using cruelty – or cold, hard steel – to protect their bloodstained, ill-begotten fortune.

Another high-octane feature that’s generating sparks is the horror movie, ‘The Strangers – Chapter 1.’ Lionsgate is set to release the drama, in theaters on Friday, May 17. The film, which was penned by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland, based on a story by Bryan Bettino. The latter wrote and directed the original 2008 ‘Strangers’ movie.

The first installment of the franchise’s new trilogy was penned by genre veteran, Renny Harlin. ‘The Strangers – Chapter 1’ stars Madelaine Petsch, Froy Guitierrez, Gabriel Basso and Ema Horvath.

In ‘The Strangers – Chapter 1,’ Petsch stars as Maya, a young woman starting a new life with her fiancé. Suddenly, during a road trip stop in a remote vacation rental in the woods, they become the prey of a mysterious gang of masked strangers who attack without warning or reason. What begins as a fight to stay alive becomes one woman’s journey of courage and cunning in the series.
