A long-held family secret is destined to not only change their past, but also potentially alter their future, in the new comedy, ‘The Present.’ Actor Easton Rocket Sweda’s protagonist of Taylor is encouraging his siblings to work together to help remind their parents of their love for each other in order to save their family – even if they have to figure out which methods work the best while repeating the same mundane activities.
Gravitas Ventures will release the movie on digital and cable VOD tomorrow, June 18. In honor of ‘The Present’s distribution, Film Factual is premiering an exclusive clip from the project.
The comedy was written by Jay Martel and directed by Christian Ditter. Besides Sweda, the movie also stars Isla Fisher, Greg Kinnear, Ryan Guzman (‘9-1-1’), Shay Rudolph (‘The Baby-Sitters Club’) and Mason Shea Joyce (‘Good Girls’).
‘The Present’ follows Taylor, who is on the autism spectrum, agoraphobic and uniquely gifted, as he discovers he can manipulate time using an enchanted family heirloom. The discovery allows him and his siblings to go back to the eve of their parents’ separation in hopes of changing the outcome. As their schemes become more elaborate, the siblings will learn about family bonds and what they can and can’t control.
In the film, Fisher and Kinnear play the parents, Jen and Eric Diehl, who are in search of reconciliation. Sweda, Rudolph and Joyce portray the siblings, Taylor, Emma and Max, who just might be the only people who can make that happen.
