Actor Jon Oswald is embarking on a wild, caffeine-fueled journey to connect with his fellow Juggalos in the new action crime film, ‘Off Ramp.’ The performer plays Trey, an ex-con and Insane Clown Posse enthusiastic who embarks on a wild adventure with his devoted best friend, Silas, to attend the Gathering of the Juggalos, in the comedy.
Freestyle Digital Media is distributing the genre-bending movie in limited theaters and on U.S. VOD platforms and DVD today, September 6, 2024. In honor of the feature’s release, Film Factual is debuting an exclusive clip from the project, which is titled ‘Painted Face Fade.’
Before its official distribution, the comedy had its world premiere at the Splat! Film Festival, where it won Best Film. Its festival circuit run continued with additional screenings at the Panic Fest and Calgary Underground Film Festival. ‘Off Ramp’ also won several awards on the festival circuit, including Best Debut Feature at the Boston Underground Film Festival, Best Feature Film at the Chattanooga Film Festival and the Audience Award at the New Orleans Film Festival.
Nathan Tape made his feature film directorial debut on ‘Off Ramp.’ In addition to helming the movie, he also co-wrote the script with Tim Cairo (‘Lowlife’). Tape also produced the comedy with Fabiola Andrade and Laura Cassidy.
In addition to Oswald, ‘Off Ramp’ also stars Emmy Award-nominated actor Scott Turner Schofield as Silas. Ashley Smith (‘A Desert’), Jared Bankens (‘Devil’s Peak’), Reed Diamond (‘Moneyball’) and Miles Doleac (‘The Hollow’) also appear in the film.
In ‘Off Ramp,’ Trey, an ex-con and Juggalo, embarks on a wild journey with Silas to the Gathering of the Juggalos. Armed with drugs and dreams of horrorcore rap stardom, they are presented with a chance to perform at the event, and a shot at becoming Jugga-famous.
The Gathering of the Juggalos is the one place on earth where Trey and Silas feel accepted. Juggalos are fans of Insane Clown Posse and other artists signed to Psychopathic Records. The term Juggalo comes from Insane Clown Posse’s 1992 song ‘The Juggla’ and is considered a term of endearment.
Their plans take a dark turn, however, when they clash with a corrupt sheriff (Diamond). The two friends also gets caught in a dangerous scheme orchestrated by a fellow Juggalo turned sadistic criminal.
As they fight for survival, Trey and Silas find unexpected allies and confront their own demons. With courage and sacrifice, they ultimately triumph over evil and find out who they truly are. As they set out on a new path, they’re bound by their unique culture and the knowledge that Juggalo Family can overcome all.
