Her dedication to documenting the civilian impact of war unfortunately turned pioneering news camerawoman Margaret Moth into a harrowing lead story. The acclaimed CNN combat camerawoman, who covered such conflicts as the Persian Gulf War and the Bosnian War, stared death in the face but refused to look away. Her traumatic journey is chronicled in the new documentary, ‘Never Look Away.’
Greenwich Entertainment is set to release in the feature in theaters and on Digital/On Demand tomorrow, November 22. The movie’s official distribution comes after it premiered to critical acclaim at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. In honor of the feature’s official distribution, Film Factual is debuting an exclusive clip from the project, which is titled ‘Diorama Accident.’
The documentary marks the feature film directorial debut of ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ star, Lucy Lawless. While discussing why she was driven to helm ‘Never Look Away,’ Moth’s fellow New Zealander said: “I was compelled to tell the story of a wild-hearted iconoclast who proves that even bad girls can walk on the side of the angels.”
Matthew Metcalfe of GFC Films, Tom Blackwell and Lawless served as writers on the movie. The trio also served as producers on the documentary, along with Whetham Allpress. XYZ Films served as an executive producer on the project.
‘Never Look Away’ follows Moth as she risks it all to put the viewer inside the conflict in Sarajevo in 1992. When a fateful injury gets in the way of her appetite for danger and adrenaline, the camerawoman found the strength and courage to carry on to continue covering war zones. She bravely returned to Sarajevo as soon as possible, and went on to cover multiple subsequent wars for CNN.
