Sometimes confronting the hostility of a new environment can break a family – or make them stronger. That’s certainly the case for the Lee family in the new drama, ‘A Great Divide.’
Gravitas Ventures is distributing the movie this Tuesday, November 26. In honor of the feature’s release, Film Factual is premiering an exclusive clip from the project.
Jean Shim directed and produced ‘A Great Divide.’ The drama stars an ensemble cast that includes Ken Jeong, Seamus Dever (‘Castle’), Emerson Min (‘Black-ish’), Margaret Cho (’30 Rock’), Jae Suh Park (‘Friends From College’), Jamie McShane (‘Thor,’ ‘Gone Girl), Marshall Allman (‘Prison Break,’ ‘True Blood’) and Miya Cech (‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’).
In ‘A Great Divide.’ the Lee family leaves the Bay Area for a fresh start in the rural expanses of Wyoming. However, they soon begin to encounter hostility and xenophobia in their new community. How they confront these struggles will break them – or make them stronger.
The movie stands out as one of the only narrative features from the AAPI community to acknowledge and directly confront some of the hate that emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the film is both relevant and resonant.
