The Count of Monte Cristo Exclusive Clip Features General de Morcerf Testing Firearms

Actor Pierre Niney’s titular character is carrying out his revenge on the three men who betrayed him in the new historical drama, ‘The Count of Monte Cristo.’ The protagonist is embarking on the famous journey that was first introduced in the acclaimed 1844 French adventure novel of the same name by Alexandre Dumas.

The screen adaptation is now playing in over 15 top U.S. markets, courtesy of Samuel Goldwyn Films. The feature’s official distribution comes after it premiered in competition at the 77th Cannes Film Festival to rave reviews, and went on to win awards at Cabourg and Fantasia. In honor of the project’s theatrical release, Film Factual is premiering an exclusive clip from the feature, which is titled ‘Firearms.’

Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patellière directed the action movie.  Besides Niney, the drama also stars Anaïs Demoustier, Laurent Lafitte, Anamaria Vartolomei and Bastien Bouillon.

‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ tells the story of a young man, Edmond Dantes (Niney), who becomes the target of a sinister plot and is arrested on his wedding day for a crime he did not commit. After 14 years in the island prison of Château d’If, he manages a daring escape. Now rich beyond his dreams, he assumes the identity of the Count of Monte-Cristo and exacts his revenge on the three men who betrayed him.
