The past is coming back to haunt a new group of friends in the form of the iconic hook from the hit ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ film franchise. Sony Pictures Releasing has premiered the latest poster for the anticipated slasher follow-up. The poster for the latest entry in the horror series is promoting the feature’s release in theaters on July 18, 2025.

The new iteration of ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ was directed by ‘Do Revenge’ helmer, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. She crafted the story for the movie with Leah McKendrick, and the duo also wrote the script with Sam Lansky. Robinson also served as an executive producer on the legacy sequel with Jackie Shenoo and Karina Rahardja.

The upcoming ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ stars Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, Sarah Pidgeon, Billy Campbell, Gabbriette Bechtel, Austin Nichols, Lola Tung and Nicholas Alexander Chavez. The new cast is joined on screen by two of the franchise’s original actors, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

The latest ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ follows the five new friends as they inadvertently cause a deadly car accident. They decide to cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences.

A year later, their past comes back to haunt them, and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer…and is determined to get revenge on them. One by one, the friends are stalked by the killer. In the process, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.
