The most relatable characters in films focus on both honesty and compassion at the lack of opportunity afforded to many people in the lower classes of society. That’s certainly the case for actor Joe Gill’s protagonist of Danny as he contemplates his release from prison in the new drama, ‘Treading Water.’

Gravitas Ventures is releasing the critically-acclaimed movie on Digital and On Demand today, August 12. The project’s official distribution comes after it had its World Premiere at BFI London Film Festival. In honor of the feature’s release, Film Factual is premiering an exclusive clip, which is titled ‘Fairground.’

Gino Evans wrote and directed ‘Treading Water.’ Besides Gill (‘Emmerdale Farm’), the drama also stars Becky Bowe (‘Coronation Street’).

The Manchester-set movie follows Danny’s release from prison. Upon his reintroduction into society, he tries to take control of the mental health issues that have shaped his life. He contemplates if a chance encounter with a former flame will offer him the possibility of love and redemption he so desperately craves.
