New York Film Critics Online (NYFCO) Award the Best Films of 2025

On Dec. 16, 2025, the New York Film Critics Online (NYFCO) announced its selections for the best in film for 2025. The voting process was conducted virtually.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s black comedy action thriller, ‘One Battle After Another,’ released by Warner Bros. Pictures, won the group’s top prize for Best Picture.

Ryan Coogler’s horror movie, ‘Sinners,’ was NYFCO’s most-honored feature with four awards. The filmmaker was named Best Director for the project, which was also distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The actors, led by Michael B. Jordan, were honored with the Best Ensemble prize. Additionally, Autumn Cheyenne Arkapaw was voted as Best Cinematographer.

Ethan Hawke was celebrated as Best Actor in ‘Blue Moon.’ The Best Supporting Actor award went to Jacob Elordi for his turn in ‘Frankenstein.’

Jessie Buckley, Hamnet earned the top prize for Best Actress for her role in Hamnet.’ Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, meanwhile, received the group’s Best Supporting Actress prize for ‘Sentimental Value.’ NYFCO voters recognized Chase Infinity as Breakthrough Performer for her role in ‘One Battle After Another.’

Additional awards went to Eva Victor for Best Debut Director for her first feature, ‘Sorry, Baby.’ ‘Arco’ was named as Best Animated Feature, while ‘BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions’ was voted Best Documentary.
