Sometimes the wrong place is exactly where you’re meant to be. That idea sits at the heart of the upcoming romantic comedy, ‘You, Me & Tuscany.’ That important lesson is highlighted in the film’s ‘First Look’ featurette.
Leading the movie’s cast is Halle Bailey, who stars as Anna, a young woman stuck in a rut after giving up her dream of becoming a chef. Drifting through her twenties and reeling from poor decisions, Anna hits rock bottom when she loses both her job and her place to live in one blow.
A chance encounter with Matteo (Lorenzo de Moor), a charming Italian with access to an empty villa in Tuscany, inspires Anna to make a bold—and impulsive—decision: fly to Italy and stay there, despite warnings from her candid best friend Claire (Aziza Scott).
But Anna’s plan to secretly crash at the villa for just one night quickly spirals out of control when Matteo’s mother, Gabriella (Isabella Ferrari) arrives unexpectedly. In a moment of panic, Anna pretends to be Matteo’s fiancée, setting off a chain of comedic and romantic complications.
Things grow even more complicated with the arrival of Matteo’s cousin Michael (Regé-Jean Page). As sparks fly between Anna and Michael, the fake engagement begins to blur into something far more real, forcing Anna to confront her past, her passions, and the possibility of love in the most unexpected place.
The international ensemble also includes Marco Calvani as a friendly Italian taxi driver. Academy Award nominee Nia Vardalos also stars in the rom-com as Anna’s former employer, Mrs. Dunn.
‘You, Me & Tuscany’ was directed by Kat Coiro, known for her work on ‘Marry Me.’ The upcoming film was written by Ryan Engle, and is based on an original idea he co-created with Kristin Engle. The latter also serving as executive producer on the movie, which Universal Pictures will release in theaters on April 10.
