The original cast from ‘That ’70s Show’ is reuniting for its upcoming sequel series, ‘That ’90s Show,’ in the latter’s newly released official trailer. Netflix premiered the trailer for the follow-up show to the classic FOX sitcom in anticipation of its global release on January 19, 2023.
Topher Grace, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Laura Prepon, and Wilmer Valderrama will appear as special guests on ‘That ’90s Show.’ They’ll be joined by Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp, who are also returning to the franchise as their iconic characters, Red and Kitty.
The upcoming comedy also stars Callie Haverda as Leia Forman Smart, the daughter of Eric Forman (Grace) and Donna Pinciotti (Prepon); and Mace Coronel as Jay Kelso, Leia’s love interest, who’s also the son of Michael Kelso (Kutcher) and Jackie Burkhart (Kunis).
Set in 1995, ‘That ’90s Show’ follows Leia Forman, who’s desperate for some adventure in her life, or at least a best friend who isn’t her dad. When she arrives in Point Place to visit her grandparents, Red and Kitty, Leia finds what she’s looking for right next door when she meets the dynamic and rebellious Gwen (Ashley Aufderheide).
With the help of Gwen’s friends, including her lovable brother Nate (Maxwell Acee Donovan), his smart, laser-focused girlfriend Nikki (Sam Morelos), the sarcastic and insightful Ozzie (Reyn Doi), and the charming Jay, Leia realizes adventure could happen there just like it did for her parents all those years ago. Excited to reinvent herself, she convinces her parents to let her stay for the summer. With a basement full of teens again, Kitty is happy the Forman house is now a home for a new generation and Red is, well…Red.
‘That ’90s Show’s first season, which features ten 22-minute episodes, was created and developed by Bonnie and Terry Turner, who also created its predecessor series. They were joined by their daughter, Lindsey Turner, as well as Gregg Mettler, on the sequel show. They also served as executive producers on the sitcom, and Mettler served as the showrunner, as well. Gail Mancuso directed the first eight episodes of the season, while Prepon helmed the last two episodes.
