Kiernan Shipka Realizes That She Can Pursue Her College Aspirations While Still Caring For Her Parents in Wildflower’s Official Trailer

Kiernan Shipka is realizing that she can still care for and love her parents and family while also pursuing her own personal dreams in the upcoming comedy-drama, ‘Wildflower.’ Momentum Pictures has released the official trailer for the coming-of-age film, in which the actress’ character, Bea Johnson, learns about growing up too fast and slowing down just enough to recognize her good fortune.

The movie is set to be released in theaters on March 17 and then On Demand and Digital on March 21, 2023, courtesy of Momentum Pictures. The comedy-drama’s official distribution comes after it had its World Premiere during the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival.

‘Wildflower’ was written by Jana Savage and directed by Matt Smukler. Besides Shipka, the comedy-drama also stars Dash Mihok, Charlie Plummer, Alexandra Daddario, Brad Garrett, Reid Scott, Erika Alexander, introducing Samantha, Hyde with Jacki Weaver and Jean Smart.

‘Wildflower’ follows Bea from birth to high school graduation as she navigates life with parents – mom Sharon (Hyde) and dad Derek (Mihok) – who are neurodivergent. While her extended family can’t quite agree on the best way to help, Bea comes to realize that she can happily pursue her own aspirations in college without any guilt for leaving her parents.

Fun Film Fact: ‘Wildflower’ script was inspired by Smukler’s niece. The story was originally conceived of as a short film before it was developed into a feature film.
