My Home Unknown Exclusive Clip Highlights the Bond Between a Woman and Her Dog

Compassion begins when people don’t look away from, or readily judge, someone else’s struggles and appearances. That’s certainly the case with the community members that Mina, the protagonist of the new drama, ‘My Home Unknown,’ experiences as she lives on the streets and musters the courage to find her way home.

The movie, which tells the gripping, raw and unflinching story of Mina’s battle with mental illness while living on the streets, is now available on Digital and On-Demand platforms, courtesy of Gravitas Ventures. In honor of the project’s distribution, Film Factual is premiering an exclusive clip from the feature, which is titled ‘On the Street.’

‘My Home Unknown’s official release comes after it premiered at Dances With Films: LA. It then went on to play the The Female Eye Film Festival (FeFF) in Toronto and was the opening night movie at the Micheaux Film Festival in Los Angeles. The dram won Best North American Debut at FeFF, and was also nominated for the Panavision Award for Outstanding Feature.

First-time feature filmmaker Yaz Canli wrote, directed, produced and played Mina in ‘My Home Unknown.’ The movie co-stars and was produced by Diane Foster, the founder of WallyBird Productions, and was executive produced by Threshold Entertainment’s Lawrence Kasanoff (‘Mortal Kombat’ franchise) and Grammy and Oscar winner Jimmy Lenner. The film’s music was created by Michael Lloyd of ‘Dirty Dancing’ fame and Primetime Emmy winner Greg O’Connor.

In ‘My Home Unknown,’ after Mina, a gifted artist experiencing homelessness, loses the last thing she loves, her adorable dog Burrito, she is forced to battle through the downward spiraling journey of a mental health crisis to find home. Lost between fragments of her Muslim past and harsh realities of her present – from substance abuse and the loss of faith to abusive voices in her head – Mina must find a way to reconcile with deep grief and accept the kindness of others so she can start life anew.
