The new horror thriller, ‘The Devil’s Mouth,’ explores those unsettling ideas by examining the thin line between faith and distress. The story also challenges its characters to face an ancient evil that tests both their courage and their mortality. By pairing psychological tension with relentless suspense, the movie delivers a chilling experience that lingers long after its final moments.

The drama was directed and produced by genre veteran Jeff Wadlow, who brought those themes to life through an atmospheric blend of creature feature horror, character-driven drama and escalating suspense. Throughout his career, the ‘Truth or Dare’ and ‘Fantasy Island’ filmmaker has embraced stories that place relatable characters in extraordinary circumstances, allowing emotional conflict to heighten the terror. With ‘The Devil’s Mouth,’ he continues that approach by crafting a horror feature that is as emotionally engaging as it is frightening.

Aja Gabel and Myung Joh Wesner wrote the script for the thriller. The movie features an ensemble cast led by scream queen Kathryn Newton. She’s joined on screen by Lana Condor, Nico Hiraga, Gavin Casalegno, Tommi Rose and Tayme Thapthimthong. ‘The Devil’s Mouth’ follows five companions, led by life-long best friends Sara McKenna (Newton) and Max Leviton (Condor), as they set out on one last adventure along Thailand’s stunning coast. They’re eager for a final thrill before life in the real world begins after college graduation. They sign up for a guided swim through the titular remote cave system, a natural wonder that’s as breathtaking as it is unforgiving.

Deep inside the labyrinth of narrow waterways, their journey takes a terrifying turn when they discover that a freak storm the week before flooded the caves with sea life. Most of the creatures died in the fresh water, but one lethal predator survived, and it’s hunting the friend group. Every corridor they round is overflowing with anxiety, and every wrong turn becomes a deadly encounter.

As panic spreads and their sense of direction slips away, the group begins to fracture. Trust erodes, fear takes over and survival becomes a savage game. In the suffocating darkness, every choice could be their last as they learn that to make it out alive, sacrifices must be made.

Wadlow generously took the time recently to talk about helming and producing ‘The Devil’s Mouth’ during an exclusive video interview. Among other things, the filmmaker revealed that he was immediately drawn to the project because it combines his love of shark movies and claustrophobic horror with a compelling exploration of female friendship. He also praised Newton and Condor for bringing an authentic bond to their performances, highlighted the cast’s extensive physical training and celebrated rigorous safety measures that helped create the thriller’s intense survival sequences.
