The most-nominated – and least awarded – nominee this year is Diane Warren, now on her fourteenth career bid and her sixth consecutive nomination. Her song Applause (Tell it Like a Woman) comes from a movie almost no one has seen, which hasn’t produced a win in recent memory. Lady Gaga was nominated alongside Warren in 2015 for a song from The Hunting Ground and won in 2018 for the unforgettable “Shallow” from A Star is Born. Now, she’s up for Hold My Hand (Top Gun: Maverick). Another popular star up this year, for her first award, is Rihanna, contending for Lift Me Up (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever). The nominations leader is represented with This Is a Life (Everything Everywhere All at Once). But the deserving frontrunner in this category is also the sole nomination for one of the biggest international hits of the year: Naatu Naatu (RRR), which should hopefully be unbeatable.
Should win: “Naatu Naatu”
Will win: “Naatu Naatu”
Alternate: “Hold My Hand”
