Sometimes it takes a seemingly devastating crisis for people to realize the path they should actually be taking in their lives. That’s certainly the case for the titular character of the new action-adventure comedy, ‘Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass.’
Sony Pictures Classics is set to distribute the film in theaters on July 10. In honor of the movie’s release, the distributor has debuted the project’s official teaser trailer.
‘Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass’s official release comes after it had its World Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January. The comedy will also screen at the Tribeca Festival Screening in the Spotlight Narrative section in June.
‘Wet Hot American Summer’ director David Wain helmed ‘Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass.’ He also co-wrote the script with actor Ken Marino. The duo also served as producers on the new movie.
Besides Marino, the comedy also stars Zoey Deutch in the eponymous role. They’re joined on screen by Jon Hamm, John Slattery, Ken Marino, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Ben Wang, Sabrina Impacciatore, Joe Lo Truglio, Tobie Windham, Mather Zickel, Matthew Jayson Cwern, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Thomas Lennon, Fred Melamed, Michael Cassidy, Michael Ian Black, Richard Kind and Zac Oyama.
‘Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass’ follows the titular small-town hairdresser, who’s engaged to her devoted high school sweetheart, Tom (Cassidy). Her life takes a turn when a trip to a book signing leads to Tom meeting – and sleeping – with his “celebrity pass.”
Reeling from the betrayal, Gail impulsively joins her friend Otto on a trip to Los Angeles. While there, a psychic convinces Gail that the only way to save her marriage is to even the scales with her own celebrity pass: Jon Hamm.
Thus begins an epic journey through Tinseltown as Gail and Otto join forces with a talent agency assistant, a paparazzo and actor John Slattery, all in the search for Hamm. Along the way, they collide with celebrities and are hunted by a group of Italian assassins as they get ever closer to finding the elusive star.
