Tribeca Festival 2026 Celebrates 25th Anniversary With Major Film and TV Premieres

The Tribeca Festival is set to once again claim its stake as being one of the most vital, culturally relevant events in the entertainment industry in New York City this year. The festival, which will run June 3-14 in the titular neighborhood in Manhattan, will bring artists and audiences together for its 25th anniversary.

The festival will celebrate storytelling in various forms, including film, television, games and audio storytelling. It will also champion emerging and established voices through premieres and conversations.

Several movies and television series are showing promise amongst the Tribeca Festival’s official selection this year, including ‘CVNT.’ The LGBTQIA+-driven television pilot will have its World Premiere at the festival on Saturday, June 7 in the Tribeca TV section.

Nicole Higgins created, wrote and directed the comedy series. She also stars in the pilot alongside David Brown, Will Madden and Ben Weaver.

‘CVNT’ follows Marni as she’s trying her best: she’s sober, she’s scrappy and she would do anything for her baby daughter Mila.

So when a surprise daycare bill hits and every door slams shut, she finds her solution in the most unexpected Craigslist ad she’s ever seen. Armed with a frozen milk stash, a ride-or-die best friend and the street smarts she picked up in a past life, Marni pulls off a hustle that’s equal parts absurd, resourceful and deeply human.

Another remarkable entry at this year’s Tribeca Festival will sure to be the dance dramedy, ‘Mother Future Self.’ The art movie will have its World Premiere at the festival on Friday, June 5 in the in the US Narrative Competition.

Tori Lancaster penned, helmed and produced the film. Imani Jade Powers, Betsey Brown, Juliet Brett and Ben Groh star in the dramedy.

‘Mother Future Self’ follows estranged best friends Sofi and Jordan, years after a falling out, as they unexpectedly reunite at an experimental dance camp in rural Maine. Sofi works as an artist-in-residence at the camp.

When Jordan arrives to attend a week-long workshop, both women are forced to confront their history. Within the close-knit workshop, tension from their complex past surfaces, affecting the small group of participants preparing for a final performance.

In their new and secluded environment, the two women’s precarious reconnection wavers between affinity and distrust. As a result, Sofi is led to consider a drastic decision that could disrupt the final performance for all.

Another entry at this year’s Tribeca Festival that will sure to be a highlight is the mystery thriller, ‘Unidentified.’ The film will have its U.S. Premiere at the festival on Tuesday, June 9 in the in the Spotlight Narrative section. Following its U.S. premiere screening at the festival, Sony Pictures Classics will release the drama on June 19.

Haifaa Al Mansour directed ‘Unidentified.’ Along with Brad Neimann, she also wrote and produced the movie, which is in Arabic and English with English subtitles. The thriller stars Mila Alzahrani, Shafi Alharthi, Aziz Gharbawi, Othoub Sharar, Adwa Alasiri, Abdullah Alqahtani, Aouhod Aljadaan and Somaya Alshareef.

‘Unidentified’ follows 29-year-old Noelle Al Saffan as she moves to the city to start a new life after her divorce. She’s obsessed with true crime podcasts and takes a job at a police station digitizing their old files. Her official work is mundane.

But everything changes when a young woman is discovered dead in the desert and the officers need a female present to investigate her body.  Noelle jumps at the chance to participate in police work outside of the copy room. Haunted by the girl’s senseless and mysterious death, she launches her own investigation to identify the victim and solve her murder.

Despite repeated warnings from the Police Chief to stay off the case, Noelle uses her ability to connect with other Saudi women to piece together a picture of who the girl was. Following the advice of her favorite video podcast, she investigates everyone who might be connected to the crime. Noelle doggedly pursues the mystery, putting herself in danger. She also challenging her preconceived notions about women in the Kingdom, the threats they face and even the motivations that connect her to the victim.

Another anticipated film at this year’s Tribeca Festival is ‘Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live From Paris.’ The documentary will have its World Premiere at the festival on Monday, June 8 in the in the Spotlight section.

Paul Dugdale helmed ‘The Lifetimes Tour: Live from Paris.’ The titular singer served as an executive producer on the movie.

The documentary, which explodes onto the screen in a blaze of color, sound and pure spectacle, capturing Perry in an immersive and interactive show. Filmed before nearly 40,000 fans over two nights in November 2025, the concert experience dropped audiences into the heart of her record-breaking Lifetimes Tour, a global phenomenon that swept across five continents and 91 shows.

Set against the iconic backdrop of the titular city, the movie is a nonstop rush of powerhouse vocals, bold visuals and one-of-a-kind jaw dropping stage design. From explosive anthems to iconic chart-toppers, the musician commands the stage with unstoppable energy as the audience becomes part of the show, singing, dancing and surrendering to the moment.

Another powerful film at this year’s Tribeca Festival is sure to be ‘Death Boom.’ The documentary will have its World Premiere at the festival on Tuesday, June 9 in the Escape From Tribeca section.

Jessica Chandler directed the movie. Iconic horror genre filmmaker Eli Roth narrated, produced and appears in the feature. Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson, Phillip Watson, Sean McKittrick and Raymond Mansfield also served as producers on the documentary.

‘Death Boom’ chronicles how the Baby Boom will end with a bang. Over a billion people are expected to die in the next 15 years, but funeral systems aren’t ready for the titular “Death Boom.” As morgues overflow and wallets empty, a broken, billion-dollar industry is exposed.

But better options exist. The shocking, eye-opening and surprisingly uplifting documentary dives deep into the business of death, revealing who’s keeping it alive, and why. With unprecedented access and bold voices leading a new movement, ‘Death Boom’ reclaims the end of life with humanity, sustainability and just the right dose of dark humor.

Another entry at this year’s Tribeca Festival that will sure to standout is the short film, ‘Last Minute.’ The movie will have its New York Premiere at the festival on Saturday, June 6 as part of the Shorts: Care Package in the Shorts section.

Michael Cusumano scribed, directed, stars in and produced the short. Charity Schubert, Espyn Doughty, Blayne Weaver, Moriah L. Hicks and Donnovan Roe.

Set in 1989, before the internet reshaped everyone’s lives, ‘Last Minute’ follows Jackie (Schubert), a single mother forced into a late-night scramble when her 12-year-old son waits until the eve of a major school assignment to begin his work. As the clock ticks down, the dilemma unfolds into a comedic and heartfelt portrait of responsibility, determination and the incredible lengths a parent will go for the sake of their child.
