PH-1 Exclusive Clip Exposes Media Manipulation, Government Distrust and Cultural Paranoia

Some of the most terrifying contemporary fictional movies are those that relive the cultural landscape of past eras. Much like the 1970’s, modern society holds skepticism in the government, fear manipulation by the media and racial inequality. The new character-based political thriller, ‘PH-1,’ is one such feature that emphasizes how historic cultural unrest is repeating itself in current society.

Buffalo 8 Distribution initially picked up the feature’s rights at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival. The distributor, which then set an April 10 theatrical release for ‘PH-1,’ is now debuting the project on major digital platforms in North America, including Apple TV/iTunes, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, Verizon Fios, Hoopla and Fandango at Home. In honor of the feature’s digital distribution, Film Factual is premiering an exclusive clip from the drama.

Mark Kassen (‘Jobs,’ ‘Before We Go,’ ‘Puncture’) directed the movie. He also wrote the screenplay with Cheryl Guerriero (‘Palmer,’ ‘Hunting Season’). The helmer also served as a producer with Iliana Nikolic (‘Machete,’ ‘13’) for Like Minded Entertainment.

Kassen also starred in the thriller. The film’s ensemble cast includes Abubakar Salim (‘House of Dragons,’ ‘Assassins Creed), Dina Shihabi (‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan’), Jesse L. Martin (‘The Flash,’ ‘Rent,’ ‘Law & Order’) and Vinessa Shaw (‘3:10 to Yuma,’ ‘Eyes Wide Shut’).

Set inside a luxury penthouse over the course of one harrowing night, ‘PH-1’follows the actions of promising politician Payton Burnham (Kassen). He’s being held hostage by an unseen captor. The latter is forcing the protagonist to watch his reputation collapse in real time as social and traditional media weaponize speculation, and spin viral outrage. As his public identity unravels, he races to uncover who is orchestrating the attack, and why.
