Actress Camila Rodriguez and actor Roe Dunkley’s characters are coming face-to-face with the harrowing experiments of a former doctor who’s bent on curing the social blight of racism in the upcoming horror movie, ‘The Welder.’ What was initially meant to be a romantic weekend getaway for the performers’ protagonists, Eliza and Roe, ultimately ends up becoming a terrifying situation that’s driven by racial division.
Terror Films is set to distribute the feature digitally on Friday, February 24. In honor of the drama’s release, Film Factual is unveiling an exclusive clip from the project, which is titled ‘What Lives in the Room Upstairs.’
‘The Welder’ was written by Manny Degadillo and David Liz, the latter of whom also served as the feature’s director. Besides Rodriguez, and Roe Dunkley, the movie also stars Vincent De Paul.
‘The Welder’ takes the very prevalent issue of racism and subtly explores racial division, even offering a solution, albeit a morbid one. Eliza, a young Latina woman, is haunted by a traumatic event she experienced while in the military. As a result, Roe, her African American boyfriend, takes her on a ranch to help relieve her anxiety and panic attacks. But once there, they find themselves in a fight for their lives as they attempt to elude the demented racial experiments of the doctor, who has gone mad.
