Vin Diesel Prays Over the End of the Road in Fast X’s New Trailer

The end of the road is beginning, as Universal Pictures has unveiled the official trailer for its anticipated sequel, ‘Fast X.’ The trailer’s unveiling comes ahead of the action crime film’s release in theaters on May 19, 2023.

The 10th entry in the acclaimed ‘The Fast and the Furious; series was directed by Louis Leterrier, who’s known for helming ‘The Incredible Hulk,’ ‘Now You See Me’ and the first two ‘Transporter’ movies. ‘Fast X’ was written by franchise veteran Justin Lin and series newcomer Dan Mazeau

‘The Fast and the Furious’ ninth follow-up features an ensemble cast that includes returning franchise cast members Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, John Cena, Jason Statham, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Charlize Theron, Scott Eastwood and Cardi B.

‘Fast X,’ which will serve as the first installment in the series’ two-part finale, will also feature several newcomers, including Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, Rita Moreno, Alan Ritchson (‘Reacher’) and Daniela Melchior (‘The Suicide Squad’). Moreno plays Dom and Mia’s Abuelita Toretto; Larson portrays Tess, a rogue representative from the Agency; Richtson plays Aimes, the new head of the Agency who doesn’t hold the same fondness for Dom’s crew as his predecessor, Mr. Nobody; and Melchior portrays a Brazilian street racer with a powerful tie to Dom’s past.

Throughout ‘The Fast and the Furious’ franchise, Dom Toretto (Diesel) and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved and outdriven every foe in their path over many missions and against impossible odds. Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they’ve ever faced: a terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past who’s fueled by blood revenge, and who is determined to shatter this family and destroy everything – and everyone – that Dom loves, forever.

In 2011’s ‘Fast Five,’ Dom and his crew took out nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and ended his empire on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. ‘Fast X’ will show that what they didn’t know was that Reyes’ son, Dante (Momoa), witnessed it all and has spent the last 12 years masterminding a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price.

Dante’s plot will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface. But everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry, ‘Black-ish’) is the ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance.

Fun Film Fact: In addition to co-scribing ‘Fast X,’ Lin also served as one of its producers, like he did on the series’ previous installment, 2021’s ‘F9.’ He also directed the third-sixth and ninth entries in the franchise.
